Camping in Mount Rainier

All five campgrounds inside Rainier are reservation-only through Recreation.gov — there is no walk-up option. Cougar Rock (south side, near Paradise) and Ohanapecosh (southeast, near the Grove of the Patriarchs) are the two main frontcountry campgrounds; White River sits on the northeast approach to Sunrise. Reserve early: Cougar Rock and Ohanapecosh fill within minutes of release windows opening. Group sites at both south-side campgrounds require separate group reservations. Wilderness camping requires a separate permit through the climbing and wilderness registration system.
